Agriculture and livestock have been complementary activities for many years and the waste water of the livestock a valuable resource for the fertilization of the crop (because it is application to the crop is the end of the material season). The big transformation that has lived the livestock production during this last years and it’s separation from the agriculture increases the need of an optimum (correct) management of the waste water of the livestock to avoid environmental problems.

The management of the waste water of the livestock varies in every farm and its availability of land. Many are the problems that the farmer can be involved in the management of the waste water, most usual are:

• Non availability of the needed land for the application of the waste water.
• High costs of the transport of the waste water to far lands.
• Adaptation of the warehouse for the temporal needs of the crops.

• High water content
• The main part of the nitrogens is found in ammoniac form
• C/N low relation. Fertilizer without orgamic value but mineral

Installation

To execute the treatment three impermeable deposits are requested of variable dimensions depending on the waste water volume to treat and a fourth deposit or impermeable raft to warehouse the effluent of the treatment (the most common is the use of an existing waste water deposit in the land). Inside the two firsts deposits a pump will be installed for the recirculation of the waste water to increase the aeration and the contact surface between our products and the waste water.

A filter for (non beneficial) strange elements that will be installed in the main waste water sewer to avoid the introduction of strange elements in the system, like plastics, veterinarian material, etc.

Installation of the FWT Farm recirculation system.

FERTILAISER propose the installation of a recirculation system with the objective of pumping a part of the obtained effluent to the interior of the pit and push the waste water to the first deposit of the FWT Farm system.

The effluent volume for the recirculation will vary depending on the building characteristics. The used volume will remind in the treatment cycle and will not suppose any cost and lose. Recirculated water will bring reactive inside the pit, that will become a part of the treatment. Because of the difference of the building characteristics in every farm, FERTILAISER will study every case in order to find the best customized solution.

Thank of the recirculation system the farmer will obtain an improvement of the well-being and health of the livestock, because the pit will not remind full of waste water during long time.

Adjustment of the FWT Farm® and maintenance

During the first weeks of the operation, the needed reactive and the pumps operation will be adjusted in order to obtain the optimum work. Once the system is working, a Mainteinance Technic from FERTILAISER will take care of the system and will put the necessary reactive for the depuration. FERTILAISER will conduct periodically analysis in all the process phases to realize a monitoring system and to guarantee the final result of the treatment.

Possible uses of the final effluent:

• The FWT Farm® depuration system allows obtaining the correct effluent depending on its final use

• The effluent can be applied as fertilizer (being able to apply more quantity than the waste water in the same surface)

• The effluent could be used also as irrigation water, contributing with the same nutrients necessaries for the crop

• In case that the livestock farm has no lands for the effluent application and no other alternative, the effluent can be thrown out to the water net
